Signs will be present directing individuals where to enter. Spectators are to enter through the main entrance where the ticket booth and admissions will be. Coaches and athletes are to enter through the double doors about 100 feet to the right of the main entrance when facing the building. This should be done as a team at the start of the day.

Spectators, please avoid waiting in the entrance area once you have entered the building. Instead, move to your team’s respective court upon entry.

After a coach checks-in their team, the team should then enter as one and move to their respective court upon entry. More on this below.

Athletes, please be dressed in your uniform so that we know you are a participating athlete and wait for your coaches’ instructions to enter.

WRISTBANDS

Wristbands are required for spectators and coaches to enter and stay in the venue for the entire day. Spectators, view more on this under “Spectator Admission Fee.” Coaches, view more on this under “Team Check-In & Entrance.”

COACH & TEAM INFO

TEAM CHECK-IN

Each team will need a coach to check in for the day which will consist of turning in the team’s roster* and sharing with the staff your team’s name and division. The staff will then check off your team and provide you with one wristband per coach and bag tags for your athletes. Coaches will be given one wristband per coach at team check-in with a maximum of three coaches. Any other staff member is considered a spectator.

We are offering two options for when to do team check-in – Friday night from 6PM-9PM at the Virginia Beach Sports Center where the tournament will be hosted on Saturday and onsite Saturday morning prior to your team’s first match at the team entrance mentioned above.

Please note the importance of team check in! We need all teams to please follow and respect this policy. No exceptions. If a team is not checked in yet, that means to us they have not yet arrived. Please do not enter the building without notifying us which would result in our staff needing to search for you prior to your first match.

*You will not be required to give a roster to officials at Coin Toss for your matches. The roster with each athlete’s name and jersey number submitted at team check-in will satisfy that rule.

TEAM ENTRANCE

The team entrance will be through the double doors about 100 feet south of the main entrance (right of the main entrance when facing the building).

Athletes, please be dressed in your uniform so that we know you are a participating athlete and wait for your coaches’ instructions to enter.

We need your help to make this go as smoothly as possible for all involved to have an amazing experience.

We appreciate your cooperation!

TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

Each team will be responsible for one person to help work the score table when the team is playing. One team’s person will do libero tracking while the other team’s person will flip the score. This can be done by a parent on the team as well as any student. And you can alternate who does this job throughout the day.

WARMUP BALLS

Teams will need to bring warm up balls. ACE will provide game balls.

TEAM BENCHES

Each bench will have up to six chairs. Players will not be required to sit. Instead, they will be allowed to stand at the end of the bench.

Three coaches and two student managers are permitted to be on the bench. They must be listed on the team roster that gets submitted.

RESPECT THE VENUE AND ALL PARTICIPANTS

Please, encourage your athletes to leave any areas clear of all trash after playing, reffing, or sitting out. We are all sharing this facility. Teams are NOT to leave large spaces with belongings and blankets spread out when unattended.

TOURNAMENT QUESTIONS

Any tournament questions that come up during the event should be directed to the Championship Desk on site.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The tournament is a one-day event.

Formatting described below is subject to change depending on the final number of teams per division.

WARM UP

Shared time is not timed and is the time that it takes to clear the court of existing teams and new teams establishing court. Approximately 2 minutes.

For the first two first two matches of the day on each court, you will start at the time scheduled. Each team will get six minutes of warm up time on court. After the first two matches, if the court is on time, warm-up time will stay six minutes for each team. If the court is more than fifteen minutes behind, then teams will get only four minutes each of split court time.

The team listed first on schedule will be the “home” team and pick which bench while the “visitor” will call a coin toss. We will NOT be switching sides.

DIVISION GAME FORMAT

Every team is guaranteed the number of sets equal to 5 matches. Aka, each team will play a minimum of 10 sets. The maximum number of sets played will be 15 (12 for teams limited to 4 matches) as to fall in line with the VHSL set and match limits for tournaments.*

We aim for all divisions to have 4 pools of 4 teams. However, the format for each division will depend on the number of teams with the potential of pools having 3 teams.

*Per NCHSAA rules, teams from North Carolina are limited to a maximum of four matches in a single day. We will structure your schedule accordingly to ensure compliance with your state regulations.

POOL PLAY MATCHES

Pool play will take place in the morning followed by playoffs in the afternoon.

Pools of three will play three sets to 25 no matter what. No cap. Win by two.

Pools of four will play the best two out of three sets.  The first two sets will be to 25 with the third set, if needed, to 15. No cap. Win by two.

PLAYOFF MATCHES

After pool play, teams will be reseeded and will finish the day with playoffs. Pool winners will be determined by match percentage. In case of a two-way tie, head to head results will be used. In case of a three-way, set percentage and then point differential will be used. If still tied, there will be a coin flip.

Matches will be the best two out of three sets.  The first two sets will be to 25 with the third set, if needed, to 15. No cap. Win by two.

SCHEDULE

Doors will open at 7:00AM with the first match of the day starting at 8AM EST. The tournament typically concludes by 9PM EST. However, this time depends on how the day goes. Links to the schedule and results will be provided here once ready.

BallerTV will be livestreaming. Can’t attend the event in person? With BallerTV you can watch all the games live, create and edit clips, and get access to the game downloads. Click here to sign up. If you notice there is an issue with a camera during the event, use the support tool found on the ballerTV page provided.

*The schedule will be ready by the Thursday prior to the event. Once the schedule is live, the link will be provided above and an email will go out to Head Coaches and Athletic Directors who are then responsible for sharing with their teams. Please do NOT reach out asking for the schedule. Once it is available, the highlighted portion above will be updated with the link. We greatly appreciate you respecting this request!

OFFICIALS

Matches will be officiated by VHSL Certified officials from Eastern Officials Association and surrounding areas.

Please respect the officials. Do not yell at the refs. If there is an issue, Head Coaches and Captains on the court are the only individuals who are to approach the ref, NOT spectators.

If an issue arises that requires ACE staff, the Head Coach of the team is the one to address this with the Championship Desk, NOT spectators.
